Advisory Board Member

Wellington Place Primary School is part of Discovery Trust. The Trust has a Board of Trustees (sometimes known as the board of directors or governing body) who are ultimately responsible for governance of the schools in the trust and is accountable for their performance. To support their work, the Trustees delegate governance function to be carried out locally through each school Advisory Board.

As an Advisory Board the focus will be on challenging and supporting the school to provide the best possible education for all pupils. They have a role in influencing the direction of the school by offering your experience and expertise to strengthen the decision-making process, and to challenge the leadership team to help ensure that the school is meeting the needs of the children. The functions of the Advisory Board are set out in the Trust Scheme of Delegation linked below.

The Advisory Board consists of parents, staff colleagues and community representatives; the Headteacher will be a member of the Advisory Board by virtue of their office. Community Members are appointed by the Advisory Board will on the basis of their skills; Parent and colleague members are elected to the board by the parent and colleague body respectively.

A very warm welcome to Wellington Place Primary School! We are so very proud of our new school, which is set to be a bright and happy learning hub at the heart of the Wellington Place community. For me personally, it has been a dream come true to set up and lead a new school from the ground up! I will be striving each day to learn, lead, achieve and succeed! At Wellington Place Primary School, we believe strongly in the Trust’s vision for all members of the Discovery Schools Academy trust. We believe that every child and adult in our schools should have no limits placed upon their learning. Everyone has great potential, and our schools work hard to ensure that children in our schools Discover their potential. All of our trusts work is focussed on enabling children to have Limitless Learning opportunities in order to DISCOVER their potential. By working in collaboration with Discovery, we can unite and ensure that our experiences for our children are aspirational, educational, and meaningful – and promotes learning in a way that is exciting and fun, providing the skills to be an active role model in modern day Britain.
